Type: Tibetan

Location: 382 East 4th Ave, Salt Lake City, UT 84103

Nestled in Salt Lake's historic Avenues neighborhood, this charming restaurant offers a variety of Tibetan dishes. The staff are friendly, and the food is served piping hot. As there are numerous vegetarian and vegan options, there is something for everyone at Cafe Shambala!

The chai latte is the best this writer has had in Salt Lake, and the ginger table sauce is a dream. Other recommendations include the vegetable momo and the glass noodles (phing). Linguistics side note: in Tibetan, phing means noodles made from bean or sweet potato starch, and adding the morpheme sha to the end creates phingsha which means noodles with meat.
